AIM Executive Named to Board of Compass Working Capital

Posted on November 12, 2023

Karen Wallace, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM), has joined the Board of Directors of Compass Working Capital, a non-profit financial services organization that supports families with low incomes to build assets and financial capabilities.

The Compass board elected Ms. Wallace to serve a three-year term. Also elected was Heather Wellington of FD Stonewater.

Compass operates client-centered savings and financial coaching programs, delivers training and technical assistance to other practitioners, and shapes policy solutions that dismantle barriers to asset building. Their mission is to end asset poverty for families with low incomes and narrow the racial and gender wealth divides.

“Our Board of Directors is a group of dedicated leaders who have committed themselves to ending asset poverty for families with low incomes,” says Markita Morris-Louis, CEO of Compass. “I am excited to welcome Karen and Heather and know that their expertise in marketing and community development, respectively, will be tremendously valuable to advancing our mission.”

Ms. Wallace joined AIM in 2020 and oversees all marketing activities for the commonwealth’s largest business association. She is also a catalyst for AIM’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative, including the association’s AIM Business Connect supplier diversity program.

“I couldn’t be prouder to have the opportunity to work with Compass Working Capital, a team of individuals who are so committed to moving women from poverty to prosperity,” Wallace said.

Prior to joining AIM, Ms. Wallace built a two-decade career supporting business growth with strategic planning, problem-solving, and executive oversight of large-scale projects. She spent a dozen years as a senior marketing executive at Fidelity Investments.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Children’s Chorus and a member of the National Black MBA Association and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Ms. Wallace holds both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Simmons College.
