AIM President and CEO Brooke Thomson has been selected as one of the region’s most influential business leaders by the Boston Business Journal in its 2024 Power 50: The Movement Makers.
Power 50 honorees were chosen by their peers in the Boston business community and vetted by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ) as people who are “helping to lead the way to a better Boston.” The list includes leaders across a range of industries and business sizes, from the state’s largest private employer to small firms making an outsized effect on the area.
“The Power 50-Movement Makers comprise leaders who are looking to the future – the individuals in the Greater Boston business community who are creating change and taking actionable steps to work together to make Boston continue to grow as a place for equity, inclusion, and diverse points of view,” the BBJ said.
Thomson was joined on the list by key executives at several AIM member companies ranging from Northeastern University President Joseph Aoun and BlueHub Capital CEO Elyse Cherry to Mass General Brigham CEO Anne Klibanski and Eastern Bank Executive Chairman Bob Rivers.
“I’m grateful to be included by the Boston Business Journal among such a distinguished group of Massachusetts business leaders. Being recognized on the Power 50 is really a tribute to the 3,400 member companies of Associated Industries of Massachusetts and the contributions they make every day to the commonwealth’s economy,” said Thomson.
Thomson became president of AIM in June 2023 and CEO on January 1. She previously served for four years as AIM’s chief government affairs officer responsible for designing and advancing AIM’s policy agenda.
During the legislative session that wrapped up formal sessions on July 30, Thomson was instrumental in the passage of a tax reform law that reduced the capital gains tax. She also helped to negotiate a compromise wage equity and transparency law.
Thomson was recently a guest on the PNC C-Speak podcast with BBJ Publisher Carolyn Jones and spoke about leading the statewide business association.
“We are here to help businesses succeed,” she told Jones.
“We know that when our businesses are strong, when our economy is strong, we can hire more people, we can pay great wages, people can have a good quality of life and do the things that they want to do.”
The Power 50 will be honored on Wednesday, November 13, in Boston.
