Samiya Khalid

Policy Analyst

Prior to joining AIM, Samiya worked at the Center for Social Policy at University of Massachusetts Boston where she designed the evaluation for the Somerville Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot Program, collaborating with the City of Somerville’s Mayor’s Office. She previously worked for the Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s Economic Mobility lab leading research in early education and care, amongst others. Samiya also worked as a Policy Research Fellow with the Massachusetts Business Roundtable where she conducted research and analyzed policies to promote the state’s competitiveness.

Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Samiya received her BSc in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences. She earned both an MPP and a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

If not at AIM, Samiya would run a restaurant with her husband, inspired by the diverse cuisines they have savored during their travels around the world.
