Stephanie Swanson Named to BBJ 40-Under-40

Posted on March 27, 2026

Stephanie Swanson, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at AIM, has been named to the Boston Business Journal’s 40-under-40 list recognizing the best young professionals in greater Boston.

Swanson and her fellow honorees will be celebrated at an event on May 20 at Big Night Live in Boston (tickets may be purchased here). Each honoree will also be profiled to highlight their accomplishments and backgrounds in a special section of the Boston Business Journal this spring.

The award marked the latest in a string of honors recognizing the influence and respect enjoyed by the AIM team. AIM President and CEO Brooke Thomson received both the Power 50 and Icon Awards last year from the BBJ.

“The 40 Under 40 lineup names the newest stars of the business community. Executive leadership at the Business Journal chose 40 outstanding honorees out of nearly 300 submissions. Honorees were selected for their professional and personal achievements as well as their contributions to the local business community,” the Business Journal said.

Swanson was named Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at AIM in early 2023 after working for more than a decade on Beacon Hill. She was promoted to Executive Vice President in July 2023.

Prior to joining AIM, she served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel for the Office of then-Senator Eric P. Lesser. Swanson oversaw long-term strategic planning and day-to-day management and operation of Senator Lesser’s State House and District Offices, including a staff of five. She also coordinated and managed the senator’s legislative and policy portfolio, including three omnibus economic-development packages.

“AIM members should feel proud of this recognition for Stephanie Swanson, a respected government affairs professional who leads one of the most influential public-policy groups in Massachusetts,” said Brooke Thomson, President and CEO.

“Stephanie is someone people genuinely trust — whether they’re business leaders, policymakers, or members of our own team. She brings clarity, collaboration, and heart to everything she does. She also gives her time to organizations like the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, championing women’s leadership and civic engagement. And she does all of this while being a mom of three — including an 8‑month‑old!”

A political science and economics graduate of Tufts University, Ms. Swanson studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science before earning her law degree in 2012 from Northeastern University School of Law.

“It is an honor to be recognized among some of the most talented young business leaders in Massachusetts, many of whom represent companies that belong to AIM. Thank you to the AIM team, the Boston Business Journal and to the community of AIM members who support our work to make Massachusetts a great place to live and work,” Swanson said.

AIM is the statewide business association in Massachusetts, representing the interests of thousands of employers from every sector of the economy. A member-driven, mission-based organization, AIM strives to bring positive changes for the businesses and citizens of Massachusetts.
