AIM Policy Analyst Samiya Khalid was recently selected for an honorable mention for the 2024 PhD Dissertation Award by the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM).
Dr. Khalid’s dissertation was entitled, “Unheard Voices: Lady Health Workers in Lahore’s Peripheral Communities.” She was invited to present her research at the 2024 APPAM Fall Conference.
Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Khalid received her BSc in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences. She earned both an MPP and a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
“We are delighted that Samiya has received this national recognition for her scholarship and feel fortunate to have her on the team on AIM,” said President and CEO Brooke Thomson.
Prior to joining AIM, Dr. Khalid worked at the Center for Social Policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston where she designed the evaluation for the Somerville Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot Program, collaborating with the City of Somerville’s Mayor’s Office. She previously worked for the Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s Economic Mobility lab leading research in early education and care, amongst others.
Dr. Khalid also worked as a Policy Research Fellow with the Massachusetts Business Roundtable where she conducted research and analyzed policies to promote the state’s competitiveness.
