Accutech Packaging was established in 1987 as a manufacturer of custom thermoformed packages, primarily serving the burgeoning electronics industry inside the Route 495 belt. The young company invested in equipment and skilled designers to come up with packaging solutions for expensive electronic components that needed protection from electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Over the years, with changes to the Massachusetts manufacturing landscape such as the off-shoring of electronic components, Accutech was nimble enough to move into packaging for food processors and medical/life sciences.
With a keen focus on customer needs, Accutech quickly emerged as a leader by providing comprehensive and innovative packaging solutions to several industries. In 2006, the company became ISO 9001 certified by focusing on quality products and excellence in customer service.
Accutech’s recent innovations focus on providing improved cold-chain packaging solutions for the life-sciences industry. Patented gel trays and vial carriers in the Accucool line help local biotech and pharmaceutical companies protect and ship their products
Accutech employs 97 people who operate out of three manufacturing/distribution sites in Foxboro and Mansfield. Richard Madigan, Jr. and Michael Keneally own Accutech. Their respect and concern for the well-being of employees has provided a great working environment and longevity of the team. Accutech was recently recognized as one of The Best Places for Working Parents in Massachusetts.
In addition to plastic thermoforming, Accutech manufactures printed folding cartons, paper mailers, specialty envelopes and packaging equipment.
Accutech in 2021 received the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification for food packaging manufacturing and distribution.
The company is also a US market leader in building equipment for the e-commerce and fulfillment industries. These fully-integrated solutions include film wrapping mailer systems, autoboxing systems and padded mailer systems. Accutech offers a number of automation solutions that provide e-commerce clients with sustainable, curbside-recyclable packages that appeal to consumers.
Keneally has served on the AIM Board of Directors for a number of years and has been Co-Chair of the AIM Manufacturing Committee. Mike stated, “The outlook for packaging manufacturing is very strong. There is much more room for innovation in sustainable packaging materials and processes. This provides a great opportunity for new employees to enter the packaging field, leading to an enriching, lifelong career.”
