It should come as no surprise that scores of AIM-member companies do business in, and with, Mexico. Our southern neighbor is, after all, one of the commonwealth’s largest trading partners.
AIM members will have an opportunity to explore this important business relationship at the 2024 AIM International Business Council (IBC) Symposium next week at RSM in Boston. The keynote speaker will be Alberto Fierro, Consul General of Mexico in Boston, who will discuss the world of global trade and investment from his vantage point and how it impacts your business.
Members will also hear from Alejandro Ramos, Senior Vice President of the Mexico Chamber of Commerce; and Jeevan Ramapriya, Executive Director, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment, who will moderate a panel discussion.
It’s difficult to underestimate the value of Mexico to the Massachusetts economy.
Massachusetts companies in 2023 exported some $2.7 billion worth of goods to Mexico while importing $4.89 billion of products. Exports to Mexico have increased 789 percent over three decades led by products such as integrated circuits, semiconductors, software, industrial machinery and pharmaceuticals.
AIM has a long history of promoting commerce between Massachusetts companies and those in Mexico. The association participated in then-Governor Deval Patrick’s trade mission to Mexico and Panama in 2014 and hosted Mexico’s ambassador to the United States Martha Bárcena Coqui in 2020.
The IBC symposium brings together leaders from all sectors to network and learn about the latest trends and opportunities in international trade, cross-border supply chain integration and investment. This year’s event will take place on November 21 with networking and coffee from 8-8:30 am and the main event from 8:30-10 am.
We are grateful to our partners at the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce and to our generous sponsor, Massport.

The symposium is part of a breakneck month of AIM events that also includes a webinar on navigating cyber threats; a discussion of the commonwealth’s migration toward clean-energy electric generation and an introduction to federal employment laws.
We hope you will join us for all these important discussions.
