How do we solve the persistent problems that have been revealed over the last months? The wealth gap, the opportunity gap, the education gap, the housing gap, and the health care gap. Each of these reveals an assault on our 'common wealth'. We believe economic opportunity is the surest way to resolve these various gaps.

Committee Purpose/Mission

Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) is committed to diversifying the racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability,  geography, and industrial elements of its membership, board of directors, and staff.

AIM believes that this diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative (DE&I) will strengthen the governance and management of the association, expand membership and enhance the organization’s reputation as the pre-eminent representative of Massachusetts employers on public-policy issues.

The DE&I Committee oversees a long-term effort by the association to attract talented people of varying backgrounds and opinions in the service of improving the Massachusetts economy.

The initiative is led by the AIM Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and CEO, supported by a broad group of members, directors, and staff.

Committee Actions

  • Facilitating Unconscious Bias discussions with the AIM Board of Directors, Executive Committee and staff.
  • Working with the Nominating Committee to ensure the nomination of diverse candidates for the Board of Directors.
  • Providing advice on the creation of a business exchange with companies owned and led executives from diverse backgrounds.
